Bhagavad Gita 6.5

Lift the self by the self; do not let the self-sink. The self is the friend of the self, and the self is the enemy of the self.

आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मनः ॥

Lift the self by the self; do not let the self-sink. The self is the friend of the self, and the self is the enemy of the self.

Struggling with your mental health is never a personal failure. Just as you wouldn't blame yourself for having a medical condition like diabetes, you shouldn't let your inner voice blame you for an illness of the mind. Being a true "friend" to yourself means taking compassionate responsibility for your well-being—whether that means getting enough rest, leaning on a support system, or letting a doctor help you treat it with proper care.
