Psychology for Everyone

Bhagavad Gita 5.18

The wise see the same in a learned and humble brahmana, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and one who cooks a dog.

विद्याविनयसंपन्ने ब्राह्मणे गवि हस्तिनि ।
शुनि चैव श्वपाके च पण्डिताः समदर्शिनः ॥

vidya-vinaya-sampanne brahmane gavi hastini |

The wise see the same in a learned and humble brahmana, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and one who cooks a dog.

A truly wise person looks at everyone with equal respect and compassion. Someone who is struggling with a mental health condition or receiving treatment is never a lesser person. Stigma—judging someone for getting help—is the exact opposite of this wisdom. The fear of "what will people say" should never be more important than protecting a human life and getting the care you need.
